I’m Anna, and I’m a Designer based in Southern California. ☺

When I was younger I would express myself through crafts, music, or filmmaking. Being creative made me feel like I was capable of making anything I put my mind to. UX Design gives me the space to release my creative juices while fulfilling my desire to make a social impact. People often ask me, “Why did you choose UX?”, and I reply, “ designing is beyond just playing with pixels, it’s helping people creatively.”

During my undergrad, I worked at a student-run clinic for two years as head of the social services department. Managing a team while self-educating myself on all the endless resources out there was a challenge. Every patient came in with their own set of problems that needed to be solved; however, I took this as an opportunity to learn more and challenge myself in becoming a strong solutionist. I quickly realized I was highly-skilled in identifying the patient’s pain points and immediately would know what resources best solved their problem. I often researched on my free-time to stay up to date on resources so my mind was a handbook of resources. Transitioning into the tech world, I recognize my problem-solving skills directly correlates to UX Design. My ability to empathize and quickly identify people’s pain points allows me to design thoughtful, intuitive solutions.

One of things I value most when having a conversation with someone is making the atmosphere comfortable. I notice that making someone feel comfortable and safe really allows them to be more authentic. I give thanks to my curiosity that loves hearing what people have to say. It truly excites me getting to talk to others and understand their perspective on various topics. With UX, I create a space for users to feel comfortable expressing their honest opinions and show that I truly care what they have to say about the product. My best designs were built on the foundation of the user's thoughts, not mine.
